Meet Sam:
Hi, I’m Sam Holmes, a second-year law student at Vanderbilt Law School. I’m originally from St. Louis, Missouri, and I came to VLS after earning my B.A. in Environmental Law and Political Economy from Williams College, where I also minored in Public Health. Between undergrad and law school, I worked full-time as a Policy Associate at the US Sustainable Investment Forum, a trade association for investors who want to incorporate environmental, social, and corporate governance data into their investment processes. I learned a lot about politics and government, and those experiences led me to law school.
At Williams College, I was a rower on the varsity crew team (though not in the top boat) that won the D3 national championship during my senior year. At VLS, I have continued to combine my academics and athletics through the tennis club, soccer club, the school’s running group (Jurists on the Go!), and playing pick-up basketball with my classmates each Friday.
I have also been heavily involved in the environmental and energy program, serving as the president of the student group EELS, a 2L member on the environmental journal (ELPAR), and working on research with Professor Vandenbergh’s research team. This past summer, I interned with the law firm King & Spalding in Washington, DC, and I plan to spend the 2L summer with Baker Botts in Washington, DC. I am always happy to help guide and support those interested in law school!
