The third debate in Vanderbilt Law’s Respectfully Dissent series takes place on November 18, 2025 at 12:10 p.m. at Vanderbilt Law School. The event is available to watch on livestream. Nicholas Stephanopoulos, Kirkland & Ellis Professor of Law at Harvard Law School, will face off against James Blumstein, University Distinguished Professor of Constitutional Law and Health Law & Policy at Vanderbilt Law, in a debate titled “Louisiana v. Callais and the Future of the Voting Rights Act.” Kevin Stack, Lee S. and Charles A. Speir Chair in Law at Vanderbilt Law School, will moderate the event.
Respectfully Dissent brings together experts in various fields of law to debate relevant issues in today’s legal climate. Installments from the last academic year focused on the limits of antitrust litigation and the merits of originalism.
