Scott Culpepper ’96 has been named general counsel of MailChimp, an Atlanta-based company that offers an email marketing platform.
His appointment was announced by MailChimp CEO Ben Chestnut. “We’re growing faster than ever, and Scott could not have joined MailChimp at a better time,” Chestnut said. “Under his direction, we’ll continue to establish our leadership in the areas of compliance and privacy, and we’ll move into new international markets more efficiently.”
Culpepper was previously a partner at Robins Kaplan in Atlanta, where he focused on advising technology clients. He is a registered patent attorney. “It’s always been important to me to work for innovative organizations with strong values,” Culpepper said. “MailChimp’s fantastic products and creative culture made this an offer I couldn’t refuse.”
In addition to his law degree from Vanderbilt, Culpepper has a degree in aerospace engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
MailChimp’s technology is currently used by more than nine million business around the world. The company, which is self-funded and independent, was founded in 2001.
