Three members of the Class of 1994 — Tamara Ashford, Rupert Byrdsong and Sheila Jones Calloway (BA’91)—have been appointed or elected to judgeships.
Tamara was confirmed by the Senate on November 21 to a 15-year term on the U.S. Tax Court in Washington, D.C. She has served as acting assistant attorney general of the Department of Justice’s Tax Division since June 2014 as well as the deputy assistant attorney general for appellate and review in the Tax Division, a position she has held since 2011. The Senate Finance Committee unanimously approved her nomination.
Rupert was appointed a seat on the Los Angeles County Superior Court by California Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. on June 18. Rupert was previously a partner at Ivie McNeill & Wyatt.
Sheila was elected to a seat on Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County’s Juvenile Court after serving as a juvenile court magistrate in Nashville. She teaches Trial Advocacy at VLS.
