Vanderbilt Law Co-Sponsors the Emerging Markets Conference 2024 in Mumbai

The 15th Annual Emerging Markets Conference (EMC) convened in Mumbai from December 10-13, attracting leading scholars and policymakers in law and finance to debate the issues impacting market design, corporate governance, and changing regulatory dynamics through a US-India lens. Vanderbilt Law School proudly co-sponsored the event, spearheaded by leading Indian think-tank xKDR Forum.

A wide-ranging agenda featured panels and presentations focused on the intersections of banking, administration, the environment, and the future evolution of these areas within a transforming regulatory landscape. Yesha Yadav, Milton Underwood Chair in Law, Associate Dean and Robert Belton Director of Diversity, Equity & Community, and Co-Director of the LL.M. program, chaired a discussion on the future of the India-US relationship in a new era of trade, investment, and globalization. She also led a separate discussion with Edward Rubin, University Distinguished Professor of Law and Political Science, on the future of U.S. Administrative State after 2025.

Kent Jordan, United States Circuit Judge for the Third Circuit and an Adjunct Professor of Law at Vanderbilt, participated in the panel “Rethinking the Administrative State.”

“The EMC has grown to become one of the leading convenings of global research and policy thought leaders in Asia. This year, perhaps more than others, the EMC conversation came at an inflection point for both US and international economic and trade regulation,” said Yadav. “At Vanderbilt Law, we are enormously proud of our deep links in and commitment to India and look forward to contributing research perspectives on evolving developments within the India-US relationship.”
