Vanderbilt Law Co-Sponsors the Emerging Markets Conference 2025 in Mumbai

The 16th Annual Emerging Markets Conference (EMC), held in Mumbai from December 14-17, featured leading academics and policymakers in law and finance to discuss and debate critical issues in regulation and governance, covering the cutting edge of scholarship and rule-making in areas such as corporate governance, court reform, and financial stability. Vanderbilt Law School is a proud co-sponsor of the event, spearheaded by Indian think tank xKDR Forum and its partner organizations.

Day 1 focused on regulation and innovation policy in India and included discussions on aspects of global cooperation in standard-setting and cross-border private governance in the context of innovation. The second day spotlighted cutting edge research in law and finance spanning key topics such as energy markets, climate risk pricing, and statistical methods. Subsequent conversations covered important themes in the U.S.-India dialogue to include financial regulation, economic growth, trade, and market design.

Yesha Yadav, Milton Underwood Chair in Law, Associate Dean and Robert Belton Director of Culture & Community, and Faculty Co-Director of the LL.M. Program, highlighted that “the Emerging Market Finance conference represents a world class forum of top researchers and policy experts that bring enormous collective analytical power to discuss critical debates.

“It is common for conversations at this event to spotlight future issues and to lift the curtain on the ideas that will shape them. At Vanderbilt Law, we are immensely proud of our longstanding partnership with this event that encourages rich cross-border and interdisciplinary dialogue between U.S. and Indian academics and policy makers.”
