Vanderbilt Law School was ranked among the top 10 U.S. law schools by the Princeton Review in three categories: Best Quality of Life, Best Professors and Greatest Resources for Women. Princeton Review publishes annual rankings that list only the top 10 law schools in 12 categories relevant to prospective students.
Vanderbilt ranked second in Best Quality of Life, ninth for Best Professors and eighth for Greatest Resources for Women in Princeton Review’s 2019 rankings. VLS has been ranked among the top 10 law schools in for Best Quality of Life for 11 of the past 12 years, and been recognized for Best Classroom Experience six times and Best Career Prospects four times.
Most Princeton Review “Top 10” rankings are based on a national poll of law students; some lists are also based on institutional data reported by law school administrators.
“Vanderbilt’s consistent appearance in one or more categories of the Princeton Review rankings over more than a decade is one of many indicators that we consistently offer an outstanding legal education that is prized by our students,” said Chris Guthrie, Dean and John Wade-Kent Syverud Professor of Law.
Vanderbilt has been ranked among the top 10 law schools in at least two categories in eight of the past 12 years. Princeton Review also publishes annual ratings–numerical scores of the 165 law schools included in their “Top 10” rankings–based the same student poll and institutional data created its “Top 10” lists. In the 2019 rankings, Vanderbilt was rated 92 on a scale of 60 to 99 for “Admissions Selectivity,” 95 for “Academic Experience,” 97 for “Professors Interesting,” 96 for “Professors Accessible” and 96 for “Career.”
“Because they are based on law students’ opinions, the Princeton Review rankings provide an interesting glimpse of student satisfaction with the schools they chose to attend,” said Todd Morton, assistant dean and dean of admissions. “While that’s helpful information, we encourage prospective students to visit in order to experience the remarkably dynamic and collegial culture Vanderbilt offers and to decide for themselves whether VLS provides a personal ‘best fit’ for their professional training.”
