Roy Herron, JD’79, MDiv’80, former Democratic lawmaker known as “a champion for rural Tennesseans,” dead at 69
Herron died of injuries sustained a jetski accident. He served for 26 years in the Tennessee General Assembly after being elected to the State House in 1986. He was elected to the State Senate in 1996 and rose to chair the Senate Democratic Caucus. He was chair of the Tennessee Democratic Party from 2013 to 2015.
