James F. Blumstein, University Professor of Constitutional Law and Health Law and Policy, will be honored by Leadership Nashville for almost 40 years of service as a program leader at its Shareholder Luncheon on Thursday, Feb. 24.
Leadership Nashville is an independent executive program designed to strengthen the city by fostering connections among diverse community leaders.
Blumstein began working with the organization soon after its formation in the late 1970s. His wife, Andrée Kahn Blumstein ’81, who serves as Tennessee’s solicitor general, is a member of the Leadership Nashville Class of 1993.
“For more than 40 years, Jim Blumstein has guided Leadership Nashville conversations, encouraged relationships that allowed for candid, respectful dialogue, and maintained the analytically rigorous ‘forum’ orientation of the Leadership Nashville program itself. His contribution has forever impacted our unique and phenomenal culture. This kind of perspective and balance promotes introspection and is Jim’s legacy—an extremely important component of the Leadership Nashville experience. Fortunately for us, Jim continues to be a cheerleader and supporter of LN from the sidelines as he pursues other professional obligations,” said Leadership Nashville Executive Director Evette White.
Leadership Nashville alumni produced a video highlighting Blumstein’s legacy with Leadership Nashville, in Nashville and the state of Tennessee, and at VLS.
