Hersch shares editorial duties for the peer-reviewed journal, which is published in cooperation with the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA), with Pierre Cahuc of Ecole Polytechnique in Paris. She was also named an IZA Research Fellow in April 2015.
The IZA Journal of Labor Economics is an open-access journal published by Springer. Currently in its fourth year of publication, the journal publishes research that extends to all areas of theoretical and applied labor economics. Articles published in the journal address microeconomic and macro-economic labor-related topics, such as evaluation of labor market programs, behavioral and personnel economics, labor market aspects of environmental issues, and labor market institutions.
“With her broad research agenda focusing on sex, race, color and national origin disparities in labor market outcomes, economic and social inequality, economics of home production, law and economics, job risks, and product safety regulation, Joni will make a great contribution to the IZA Journal of Labor Economics,” said Klaus F. Zimmerman, who is director of IZA and a professor of economics at the University of Bonn.
“This editorial appointment underscores Joni’s international reputation as a labor economist,” said Dean Chris Guthrie. “She’s an insightful and productive scholar, and this appointment is well-deserved.”
Based in Germany, IZA is a private, independent economic research institute focused on the analysis of global labor markets.
