The Stanton Foundation First Amendment Clinic at Vanderbilt Law School announced that Ryan Riedmueller has joined as a clinical Legal Fellow.
Riedmueller will work in collaboration with students, clinical faculty members, and clinical staff to litigate cases that further free speech. This work includes engaging in direct client representation, including intake, drafting and filing pleadings, conducting legal research, discovery, motions practice, and court appearances.
“Ryan’s impressive background and passion for First Amendment advocacy make him ideally suited for this role,” said Clinic Director Jennifer Safstrom. “We are excited to have him on board and look forward to the positive impact he will have on our students, clients, and the entire Vanderbilt Law School community.”
Prior to joining the Clinic, Riedmueller clerked for District Judge Anne R. Traum in the United States District Court, District of Nevada. He graduated cum laude from the University of California, Irvine School of Law and holds an undergraduate degree in Media Studies from the University of California, Berkeley.
Riedmueller’s experience as a clinical student at UC Irvine in the Environmental Law Clinic ignited a passion for experiential learning and public interest advocacy. He is particularly interested in issues impacting freedom of speech and freedom of the press, how those issues are developing in response to technology, and the intersection of the First Amendment and land use decisions.
“I am beyond excited to join the Stanton Foundation First Amendment Clinic and to work on important issues advancing the freedom of speech, press, assembly, and petition,” Riedmueller said. “I am also humbled by the opportunity to work with Professor Safstrom and the rest of the amazing clinicians at Vanderbilt Law. I am looking forward to fighting for the Clinic’s clients and engaging with the school community.”
Supported by the Stanton Foundation, the First Amendment Clinic defends and advances the rights of free speech, press, assembly, and petition, while providing law students with the practice and real-world experience to become leaders on First Amendment issues.
