Whitney B. Weber has been elected a partner at Latham & Watkins in the Bay Area, effective January 1st. A member of the Securities Litigation & Professional Liability Practice in the Litigation & Trial Department, she represents companies, officers, and boards of directors in a range of industries, including Fortune 500 companies and financial institutions, in securities class actions, shareholder derivative litigation, M&A litigation, and SEC enforcement actions. Posted 11.16.21

Winston Skinner has been promoted to counsel at Vinson & Elkins. Emily Larish Startsman Emily Larish Startsman , an attorney of Stites & Harbison, has been selected as a member of the 2019-20 Leadership Lexington program. Through the eleven-month program, participants are provided with opportunities to gain a better understanding of Lexington and the challenges it faces by meeting with and learning from today’s leaders.

Startsman is an attorney with Stites & Harbison in the Torts and Insurance Practice Service Group based in the Lexington office.  She has handled a variety of litigation matters for insurance companies, medical providers, corporations and local businesses.  Her focus includes medical malpractice, products liability and a variety of personal injury matters.

Outside of the firm, Startsman is active in community and professional organizations.  She is a board member of The Nest – Center for Women, Children and Families and a member of its Human Resources Committee.  The Nest provides a safe place for free education, counseling and support to children and families in crisis.  Startsman is also a member of Defense Research Institute.

Sean Perryman is director of diversity and inclusion policy and counsel of Internet Association. Sean previously served on the democratic staff of the House Committee on oversight and government reform as counsel and IT/cybersecurity subcommittee liaison, where he developed technology policy positions in the areas of privacy, civil rights, and cybersecurity. Kyle Patrick McEntee has been named to National Jurist's 2013 list of the most influential people in legal education. Kyle was the only person selected for inclusion who is not a dean or a law professor. Kyle is the executive director and co-founder of Law School Transparency, a non-profit dedicated to gathering data on student loans, scholarships, law school budgets, admissions, and employment outcomes in order to help prospective students make informed decisions about whether to embark on a career in law. and John Cheek Eason, Jr. (JD'11) were married in Cape May, New Jersey, at The Southern Mansion on July 27, 2013. The two became acquainted at a karaoke bar in the fall of their first year at Vanderbilt Law School while celebrating a Commodore victory on the gridiron. Three and a half years later, they were engaged. The bride is the daughter of Beverly and David Hiester of New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, and the groom is the son of Missy (BS'77) and John Eason (BA'74) of Nashville. Kyle Patrick McEntee, executive director of Law School Transparency  was included in The National Law Journal’s “100 Most Influential Lawyers in America” list. Kyle was a Vanderbilt Law School student in 2009 when he and classmate Patrick Lynch (JD’10) began to wonder why they couldn't get their hands on better data about where recent law graduates landed jobs. Kyle has since led the charge to do something about it, and his efforts have netted results. Most notably, the American Bar Association in 2011 began requiring law schools to report far more detailed information about where their graduates are employed—giving prospective law students a more realistic picture of their potential career paths and indebtedness. Patrick Hely (BA’06) and Katherine Van Deusen Hely happily announce their marriage on September 1 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
